FRAME GRIDE — KOSNET CONNECTION INSTRUCTIONS

Flycast playtest build

1. Close the game before changing Flycast settings.
2. Settings > Network: turn OFF Broadband Adapter Emulation and turn ON
   Use DCNet. Frame Gride uses its modem connection.
3. Set the custom DCNet server to 153.92.214.79. The tested Flycast build
   does not expose this address in its settings screen: close Flycast and
   add/update these entries in the existing [network] section of emu.cfg:

   DCNet = yes
   DCNetServer = 153.92.214.79
   EmulateBBA = no

   Do not create a second [network] section. Keep your other settings.
   This is ordinary in-game networking; GGPO/rollback netplay is not needed.
   No special DNS or ISP account is required by this Flycast test path.

In the game

1. Open the patched output's disc.cdi (or disc.gdi for GDI input) and choose NET GAME from the main menu.
   INTERNET opens the old browser/registration workflow; it is not the lobby.
2. Enter a temporary name. Y switches the name keyboard to English, A enters
   a character, B deletes, and START finishes. Any nonempty name works here;
   successful sign-in replaces it with your KOSNet display name.
3. Leave SERVER on KOSNet Server.
4. Open SETUP. Use the left/default choice on all three rows:
   - First LINE row: TONE.
   - REDIAL row: off/no automatic redial.
   - Last LINE row: no outside-line prefix; leave the number field empty.
   The source English translation incorrectly repeats TONE/PULSE on the last
   two rows. On this build, choose the LEFT option for both. B returns.
5. Select DIAL-UP, then select FrameGride in the server list.
6. Scan the QR code, or open https://kosnet.psyops.studio/activate and enter
   the displayed code. Sign in to your KOSNet account and approve Frame Gride.
   Never put your KOSNet password into an ISP or telephone-number field.
7. Back in the game, choose Main. This lobby uses KOSNet global chat.

Playing together

Both players must use the same playtest build and server settings, with their
own KOSNet accounts. In Main, START opens the menu. One player chooses SETUP
and names a battle; the other chooses BATTLE and selects that room. The room
owner chooses BATTLE to enter it. Battle chat is private to those two players.

In Battle Chat, START > SETUP opens the Cavalier menu. To use an existing save,
choose RECORD > LOAD, select the VMU and file, then confirm YES. This loads the
save; it does not overwrite it. Choose END to return to Battle Chat. Both
players must have a Cavalier ready. Use START > SORTIE to launch the battle.

After combat, return through the results to Battle Chat. END GAME leaves the
battle room and returns to Main. Avoid closing the emulator during a VMU save.

Dreamcast / DreamPi

Physical Dreamcast, DreamPi, and mixed GDEMU/MODE/disc play are separate tester
checks. This packaged build selects the Flycast DCNet PPP transport and is not
yet a verified DreamPi release. Do not copy the emu.cfg settings above to a Pi
or change a working DreamPi setup based on them. The intended in-game entry is
NET GAME > KOSNet Server, but modem negotiation and a completed hardware match
must be verified before publishing a hardware setup recipe.

Troubleshooting

- No QR yet: select FrameGride after dialing; approval appears after that step.
- An expired code needs a new connection attempt and the newly displayed code.
- Another player cannot enter: check the same arena, room capacity, and password.
- KOSNet Global unavailable indicates a chat/API problem; report the screen and
  whether login and private room chat still work.
- Report the build, Flycast version or console/drive/DreamPi setup, failure stage,
  and a screenshot. Do not share passwords or private credentials.
